During my time at Studio Piraat,
I have designed this identity concept for Vereniging Gehandicaptenzorg Nederland (VGN). VGN is the Dutch Association of Disabled Care.

I wanted to create a colourful and dynamic identity, with a playful and informal look. The idea of this concept came from body cells. The cell is the basic structural, functional and biological unit of all known living organisms and the smallest unit of life. Every single living creature on our planet, has their own unique cells. These tiny and (almost) invisible little units, are what make you you.

With this idea in mind, I visualised an abstract body cell. A transformable shape with a round core. This dynamic and colourful shape, is the transparent informal layer op top of the formal layer.

In big contrast with the corporate navy blue, I put together a bright colour palette to make the cell stand out. Another very typical aspect of the identity, is the photography. Very warm and welcoming portraits, in which the person looks happy and at ease. With this identity, I wanted to take away the sad and negative load around disabled care and show the positive side.
